Oh, I won't judge because I too am a fan of the smut (See also: In Praise of Smut, if you don't believe me.). I think a little smutty reading puts you in a more sexual/sensual frame of mind which makes life a hell of a lot better.
Thus, as part of my unceasing efforts to make life a hell of a lot better for you, gentle reader, this week's prize is Playing With Fire, a book of sexy stories from cool, SF-based sex shop, Good Vibrations. I haven't actually read it, but here's the blurb, complete with its embarrassingly excessive scorching! fire! heat! imagery.
This scorching collection of torrid tales will leave you burning with desire. Incendiary short stories tackle taboos and set boundaries ablaze, allowing couples to act out their most fiery fantasies. Alyson Tyler gets burned in “Some Like It Hot,” while Thomas Roche’s “Hot Off the Presses” follows a reporter infected with rock ‘n’ roll fever. Playing With Fire will ignite your imagination, fuel your fervor, and inspire you to have some smokin’ hot sex!To enter, list your favorite sexy book in the comments below. I'll choose a winner by random drawing on Tuesday. And if you don't feel like waiting around 'til damn Tuesday to left "burning with desire," you are more than welcome to order the book yourself.**

Years ago, I bought the 4th and 5th editions of "Herotica" by Marcy Sheiner. They've served me very well in my "times of need"... I'd love to read a new sexy book though! :)
You're going to laugh and then say, "Wtf is that?" because it's like 394802348903 billion years old, but Tara's Song. About a viking, and the lovely blond nun he scoops up. Mmmmmm hMMMMMMMM
Favorite sexy book? I don't have one. How about favorite sexy erotica writing website. Literotica.com
You know, my old standby is still book 2 of the Sleeping Beauty trilogy by Ann Rice writing under the name A. N. Roquelaure. It's odd, because I am not really into bondage, and I usually make Sweet Babou be top more because I am lazy than because I like to be dominated, but those books light my fire. I thinks it's the quality of the writing. I have also discovered Judy Mays of late, and her erotica sizzles.
I too am a fan of Literotica, but the site has a MAJOR flaw, as far as my personal erotica needs are concerned. The stories are divided into the usual content categories (anal, bondage, voyeur, etc), as one would expect. But for me, the most important thing about a sexy story is that it be written by a woman, and that it be told in the first person ("I shivered with desire" is much, much sexier than "Jane shivered with desire").
The author pseudonyms help out with the first criteria, but there's no way to tell about the second without actually sampling the story, which means I have to click on a dozen stories before I find one I want, and even then, I must reject half for terrible writing.
I'm with Betty Fokker. If I'm looking for more sex and less "story," the Sleeping Beauty trilogy definitely fills the bill. Kinky, unembarrassed, well-written... yep, definitely.
Hilarious, brilliant literary smut: "Vox" by Nicholson Baker. The entire novel is a phone sex conversation between two people. Yummy good fun!
Sex for Dummies ain't too shabby.
*writing some of these titles down on my to read list*
Oh... I think I'm going to like it here.
I've always fostered a sensual obsession with the book Everybody Poops, myself.
'Belinda' by Anne Rice, my all-time favorite. Sexy, but not all the marbles in the anus like her Sleeping Beauty trilogy. A must-read.
I have an award for you at my place...come see come see!
The winner of the book chosen by a random drawing conducted by my exceedingly honest 9 year old was: Betty Fokker (also a fabulous blogger, btw. Her slogan: "Do not try to oppress me with your patriarchal values. It will not go well for you." Check her out at http://bettyfokker.wordpress.com/).
I am so happy to get these new reading ideas and like Laurie and so writing them down.
Also, thought you might want to see some of the email entries that came in:
Keith wrote: Our favorite is The Sex Bible by Susan Crain. More of a how to guide, but hopefully it counts.
And Harleigh wrote: My thoughts are that women are intrinsic and men are extrinsic. As such, sex is an "in your head experience," for women, rather than a "on my head experience," as it is for males (this being general). So yeah, good smut can take me places that "no man has been before!" *grins* I wish i can remember the name of my first erotica experience, but can only verify I "borrowed" it from an older sister.
